T-Mobile's 5G network spans all 50 states, and Tello customers connect to it automatically with a compatible device. No special plan or add-on required — 5G access is included with every Tello plan.

T-Mobile uses GSM technology, so Tello is compatible with all GSM and LTE phones. Since T-Mobile shut down its older 3G GSM network in 2022, all connections now use 4G LTE or 5G — making the CDMA vs. GSM question mostly academic.

Any unlocked phone that supports T-Mobile's LTE bands (primarily bands 2, 4, 12, 66, and 71) will work with Tello. Most phones sold in the US since 2015 meet this requirement.
